A week ago io9 had an article outlining the top 10 sci-fi television shows of all time. I agree with most of the shows on the list, but not the order in which they appear.

I think it's ridiculous that Battlestar Galactica was only 9, when Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Buffy, and Max Headroom were ahead of it on the list. I also take issue with Star Trek being number one on the list. I'll probably take a lot of heat for this from people who claim that Star Trek started everything and then it deserves respect. This is true, however this list shouldn't be about seniority, it's about actual merit, which is why Star Trek TNG, and Deep Space 9 should have actually ranked higher on the list. In fact DS9 is nowhere to be found on this list. A lot of people may scoff at DS9, but it's the show where Ron Moore (later to create the new Battlestar Galactica) cut his chops. It was one of the first sci-fi shows to have huge character driven story arcs, and tackle issues greater than omnipotent clouds of space gas. 

I'm also surprise that Futurama didn't appear on the list. I know it's a cartoon, but that shouldn't disqualify it from the running. Futurama is hilarious, but also extremely well written. Jokes range from bathroom humor to mathematics and physics jokes that only people with degrees really appreciate. 

I take issue with Doctor Who and Babylon 5 being on the list, but I won't completely negate them. Personally I have never found them entertaining. I'll let Doctor Who slide because I realize it's "importance", but I'm going to replace Babylon 5 with Star Trek Voyager.

Here is my tentative list of the best sci-fi shows of all time. (I would have liked to add Fringe, to this list but it's still too early in the series and I'd probably take too much flak).
